Personal Profile

Dr Adrian Franklin is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist with special interests in gynaecological cancers. 

Training and Appointment

He trained at St Thomas’ and the Royal Marsden Hospital in London and has a fellowship in gynaecological, prostate and low rectal brachytherapy at St Luke’s Cancer Centre at The Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford.

Research


Dr Franklin’s research interests include gynaecological cancers, carcinoma of unknown primary and brachytherapy for prostate and low rectal cancers.

Current Practice 


As well as seeing NHS patients at St. Luke's Cancer Centre, Dr Franklin offers a weekly clinic at Mount Alvernia Hospital and is based in our specialist oncology department, St Martha’s Centre which hosts nine patient rooms and six pods for chemotherapy.  The Centre provides outpatient and day case services to patients.  The service is provided by specialist oncology nurses and consultants and covers diagnostics, intravenous and oral chemotherapy, chemotherapy instillations and monoclonal antibodies therapy.  Chemotherapy is given for a number of tumours including breast, urological, prostate, bowel, ovarian, bladder, haematological conditions, upper and lower GI, brain, pancreas, head and neck and melanoma.  There is a specialist oncology physiotherapy service, and patients have access to acupuncture and alternative therapies, which Dr Franklin may recommend as part of an overall treatment plan for each patient.
