Mr Locker trained at the Welsh National School of Medicine in Cardiff between 1975 and 1980. Following Junior doctor posts in South Wales, he moved to Nottingham in 1983 where he undertook all of his surgical training. This included three years as a research fellow in the department of breast surgery.

Mr Locker appointed as a Consultant General Surgeon at the Derbyshire City Hospital in 1993.

In 1996 Mr Locker was appointed as a Consultant General Surgeon in Carmarthen and carried out procedures such as thyroid and parathyroid surgery as well as vascular and general surgical procedures.

Clinical Interests

Mr Locker set up a vascular service which included a one-stop vascular clinic and subsequently introduced endovascular procedures for aortic aneurysms together with a specialist Consultant Anaesthetist and Consultant Radiologist.

More recently, Mr Locker started performing Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) to treat varicose veins.

Mr Locker officially retired from the NHS in 1997, but continued to work at the Werndale Hospital. He typically sees patients for vascular assessment both arterial and venous in conjunction with Professor Neil Pugh who performs detailed scans of the blood vessels.
