Aftab Khan is a Consultant Physician and Cardiologist with over 30 years of experience in the medical field. Dr Khan completed his speciality training in Devon and London before being appointed Consultant at Tameside General in 2002.
As is the nature of working in a busy district, Dr Khan has gained extensive consultation experience in a wide range of general medical and cardiological conditions His research activity has primarily focused around sinus node disease and pacemakers.. He was awarded his Fellowship of the European Society of Cardiology in 2003. He is amongst a select group of cardiologists to gain BCSI accreditation to perform CT angiograms
Dr Khan has actively been involved in the teaching of junior doctors. His clinical responsibilities have coincided with him being a Royal college of Physicians Tutor overseeing that a high standard of teaching is available for our trainees. His vast general medical experience has seen him been appointed as a RCP senior international examiner for the MRCP PACES,
Dr Khan’s clinical responsibilities include delivering both inpatient and outpatient services. On the cardiology front, he is involved in the implantation of pacemakers, performing coronary angiograms transoesophageal echocardiograms and DC cardioversion.
His clinical interests include chest pain, angina, heart failure, rhythm disturbances, valvular heart disease, syncope and pacemaker implantation and management.
Dr Khan’s hobbies includes cricket, cooking, gardening and reading.
