Mr Alex Navarro is a Consultant HPB, General, and Major Trauma Surgeon at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH), and the Park Hospital Nottingham. Alex has been an NHS Consultant since 2014 and is currently Head of Service for HPB Surgery at NUH. Alex specialises in the surgical management of gallbladder, liver, pancreas and bile duct system disease with advanced skills in laparoscopic minimally-invasive surgery (including hernia repair).
Alex is a former pupil of Nottingham High School and went on to obtain his medical degree from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 2002. Alex’s early surgical training was undertaken in the North East with Higher surgical training following in Yorkshire and the East Midlands, completed by a 12 month Fellowship in the HPB and Liver Transplant Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Alex is a PhD qualified research scientist having authored 31 peer-reviewed publications to date.
Alex is an experienced Consultant with a track-record of excellent results both for routine operations such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy (keyhole gallbladder removal) and hernia repair, as well as the most complex specialist HPB procedures. He has performed over 2000 Gallbladder removal cases without a single case of bile duct injury.
