Mr Altan Omer is a Urology Consultant at the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) where he has worked since September 2019.He trained in medicine at the University of Medicine and Pharmacology ‘Carol Davila’ Bucharest, Romania, and his speciality training at the Institute of Uronephrology and Renal Transplant – Fundeni, Bucharest Romania.  After completing his training in urology, he became a fellow of the European Board of Urology in 2016.  He then moved to the United Kingdom where he accomplished two fellowships in robotic surgery, at the Lister hospital in Stevenage and Oxford University Hospital from 2017 to 2019. He was admitted to the Specialist Register for Urology (GMC number 7118760) in 2017.

Mr Omer has authored articles, book chapters and had congress presentations regarding early detection of prostate cancer, bladder cancer and robotic surgery. Since becoming a Consultant at UHCW he led the implementation of the local anaesthetic transperineal biopsy service (LATP) both locally and across the region, and the introduction of the robot assisted radical cystectomy at Coventry. He has built a research portfolio of clinical trials and is a Lead Clinician for Urological Cancers. He is a Clinical Champion for Prostate Cancer Uk and is leading the FDS (faster diagnosis standard) and is passionate about reducing the inequalities in prostate cancer detection.

Mr Omer is married to an Orthodontist and together they have two children. He enjoys listening to blues and rock music, playing the guitar and he is an active member of the local CrossFit community
