As a Consultant Dietitian with more than 30 years’ experience, Dr Anne Holdoway's career has spanned the NHS, private sector, and industry. She graduated from the University of Leeds in 1986 with a BSc (Hons) in Human Nutrition & Dietetics. Her career pathway started within the medical field, where she worked as a clinical dietitian at the London Teaching Hospital. Her interests quickly extended beyond medical care to work with industry. From her years of industry work Dr Holdoway felt the experience she obtained would greatly benefit the clinical setting with regards to patient care in ICU, surgery, and gastroenterology.
Presently working in a clinical capacity, with a private practice at Bath Clinic, Dr Holdoway simultaneously acts as an advisor to industry, and holds several national positions in the Dietetic profession and in multi-professional organisations. As an Associate Editor of the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, she is actively involved in research to help ensure that Dietitians and healthcare professionals deliver care and dietary advice that is based on clinical evidence. In recognition of her significant contribution to the field of nutrition and dietetics Dr Holdoway has received several national awards including the fellowship award of the British Dietetic Association
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Holdoway was appointed as the Enteral Nutrition Lead for the NHSE/I resilience programme and chaired the BDA COVID-19 Clinical Guidance group; responsible for developing standards of nutritional care across the patient journey. She regularly speaks at professional healthcare conferences and patient events,

Gastroenterology and nutrition including coeliac disease, IBS (functional bowel disorders), coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, systemic sclerosis with GI involvement, which involves working closely with the Consultant Gastroenterologists.

Passionate about the subject of nutrition and diet, Dr Holdoway undertakes one-to-one consultations with clients. She is committed to helping her patients by providing advice and direction regarding dietary changes and choices to optimise health and reduce symptoms associated with digestive diseases. She also advises patients undergoing cancer treatment,
Working closely with her all her patients, Dr Holdoway is able to provide education and an understanding of the underlying causes of symptoms, and tailors advice to help individuals use diet to improve those symptoms and optimise health and wellbeing. Translating the science of nutrition into practical and acceptable solutions, Dr Holdoway seeks to support individuals to adjust food choices and activity to optimise their health and recovery.
With children who are now grown, Dr Holdoway has plenty of time to continue her ongoing commitment to her practice at Bath Clinic, palliative care, nutrition and research.
