Benan Dala-Ali
He runs a high-volume bespoke specialist paediatric practice for all ages from infants to adolescents. He deals with all aspects of paediatric surgery from minor sports injuries to complex neuromuscular conditions. In addition to his paediatric practice he also manages adult musculoskeletal, sports and orthopaedic injuries. His patient centred, evidence-based approach means treatment plans are tailored to each patient’s individual needs.
Benan underwent his undergraduate and postgraduate medical training in London. He completed his higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery on the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Rotation in London and has worked at Level I Major Trauma Centres in both London and Melbourne.
Benan has a specialist interest in paediatric orthopaedic surgery having completed two internationally recognised fellowships, where he worked with eminent surgeons in the field. He has worked on fellowship in the paediatric units of the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children in London.
Alongside his surgical training he completed a MSc in Musculoskeletal Science and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education at University College London. He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons and the Higher Education Academy. In addition to his clinical practice Benan continues to be heavily involved in research and teaching. He has published widely in international peer reviewed scientific journals and regularly presented at national and international paediatric, orthopaedic and sports conferences. Benan formally teaches, mentors and invigilates medical students and surgeons in London and the local region.
A sports enthusiast outside of work, he played rugby, cricket and squash to university level and represented both the Royal College of Surgeons and United Hospitals. He still regularly runs half and the occasional full marathon. Benan understands how sports injuries can impact a person’s quality of life and the importance of working together with the patient, their family and other multidisciplinary teams to guide the patient on their path to recovery.
Benan has been on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council for Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery since 2017 and holds a Consultant appointment at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Trust.
