Personal Profile

Personal Profile

Mr Al-Obaidi was appointed as a Consultant in Orthopaedic and Trauma surgery at Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospitals, London in 2020.

He completed his medical studies at the Baghdad College of Medicine and began his training in Jordan. Mr Al-Obaidi continued his senior training under the guide of City Hospital Munich-Harlaching, Germany whilst at the linked Rashid Hospital in Dubai.

Mr Al-Obaidi came to the UK in 2010 to complete an extensive 8 year fellowship at Imperial College London, honing his skills in major complex trauma and elective knee surgery, as well as pelvic and hip surgery. Here, he routinely managed complex trauma cases including complicated limb reconstruction procedures and circular frames. He also developed his skills and acuity in managing difficult hip & knee conditions ranging from arthritis to more complex primary procedures. He went on to complete a diploma in computer assisted robotic surgery in Glasgow.

His main interests are in hip and knee surgery, including complex trauma and the use of robotics. This consists of procedures such as hip and knee arthroplasty (including partial knee arthroplasty), arthroscopic soft tissue knee surgery and managing complex trauma cases, including revision of failed procedures and non-union.

Mr Al-Obaidi has had significant involvement and impact in the education of medical trainees across London. He has had many students attend his trauma seminars and has directly trained many of the surgeons in the region. His passion is clear and has been recognised, having been awarded the prestigious Lipmann Kessel trainer of the year award in 2019 and 2020 for supporting medical education as part of the Northwest London registrar training program.

Mr Al-Obaidi is equipped to provide patients with individualised treatment plans to support them. His expertise in the use of robotics means he is equipped to offer patients minimally invasive surgery with reduced pain and shorter recovery times.
