Personal Profile
Miss Carmen Gan obtained her Undergraduate Medical Degree from the University of Sheffield. Following that, she completed her training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology within the East Midlands Deanery in 2014. She was keen to pursue a career in Gynaecological Oncology and hence worked with the Gynae Cancer Team at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, where she gained research experience prior to re-joining the Gynaecological Cancer Team here in Nottingham. She successfully completed her subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology in 2019 and secured a job at Nottingham University Hospitals as a Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist.
She has an interest in minimally invasive surgery (keyhole) and robotic surgery for the treatment of gynaecological cancers as well as fertility-sparing surgery. Her other interest is in the family history of gynaecological cancers. Although her main interest lies in gynaecological cancers, she is also keen to treat benign conditions such as heavy periods and abnormal bleeding. She is an Accredited Colposcopist with the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.
Throughout her training and since becoming a Consultant, Miss Gan has been involved in the running of a Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Masterclass course at Nottingham University Hospitals every 2 years.
