Mr McGarvey graduated from Cambridge University in 2004, and completed specialist orthopaedic training at Guy’s, King’s, and St Thomas’s Hospitals in London. He spent a further year working with two internationally recognised knee surgeons: Professor Ponky Firer in Johannesburg and Mr Tim Spalding in Coventry. Alongside his orthopaedic training, he was matchday team doctor for Saracens Rugby Club from 2012-2016.
Mr McGarvey performs knee ligament reconstruction, meniscus repair and cartilage repair. He treats patellofemoral pain and instability. For early knee osteoarthritis he performs joint-preserving surgery such as osteotomy and focal resurfacing. For established arthritis he performs joint replacement, including partial and total knee replacement.
