Personal Profile

Mrs Dalia Said is a vastly experienced and highly trained consultant ophthalmologist and an Honorary clinical Associate Professor at Nottingham University Hospital’s NHS Trust.

With a special interest in cornea and ocular surface, cataract, lens and refractive surgery and emergency eye care. She has held the post of Eye Casualty lead at Nottingham University Hospital’s NHS Trust since 2015.

After finishing her MBChB in 1994, a Master’s degree in 1998 and MD degree 2005, Mrs Said continued to pesue her career internationally in both Egypt and in the UK. She became a Professor in the Research Institute of Ophthalmology in Cairo, Egypt in 2014.

Whilst working in Egypt she gained extensive experience in managing complex corneal infections, performing refractive surgery and was at the forefront of collagen cross-linking for infections and keratoconus.

During her training, she completed two corneal and ocular surface fellowships and an oculoplastic fellowship at Nottingham University Hospital’s NHS Trust before being appointed as a substantive consultant in 2014. She has been appointed as an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor with the University of Nottingham in 2017.

Mrs Said has performed thousands of cataract operations with excellent outcomes including complex cataract surgery as well as Refractive lens exchange with premium IOLs and phakic implants.

She is very experienced in cornea and ocular surface surgery such as lamellar and penetrating corneal grafts, collagen crosslinking for keratoconus, pterygium surgery, ocular surface stem cell surgery and refractive surgery.

Mrs Said has published over 65 peer review papers and has received a number of awards for her research papers.
