Personal Profile

Dan trained in South Africa as an undergraduate, and continued his postgraduate Surgical training in London. His Specialist Orthopaedic training was done via the St Mary’s Hospital Training Rotation, where he developed an interest in the upper limb, whilst working with Steven Copeland. During his training, he spent a year at Imperial College, London, doing research into the Biomechanics of suture anchors in the shoulder.

He was appointed to Barnet General Hospital in 1995, and proceeded to establish an Upper limb service, expanding his experience locally, and in Europe. He developed a shoulder prosthesis, and actively taught shoulder surgery to trainees locally, as well as in European courses.

After 26 years in post, he retired from the NHS, but continues teaching and training together with an active upper limb private practice in North London.
