Personal Profile
He is the Clinical Lead for Respiratory Medicine and lead for Pleural Diseases and Intervention at Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH), Kings Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He heads an Acute Respiratory Failure (ARF) unit and is involved in delivering acute and chronic respiratory failure services including non-invasive ventilation.
Dr Rao is committed to quality improvement and maintains an active involvement in clinical audit, risk management and service development. He has instigated patient pathway improvement projects and designed an electronic database to facilitate performance assessment and further refine the service in future. Being the Research co-lead at PRUH, he is actively involved in research as well as training and has publications reflecting his commitment.
Dr Rao teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and is Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer with King’s College Hospital, London. He has been involved in both the organisation and delivery of structured teaching programmes and simulation courses, medical grand rounds, Thoracic ultrasound courses and MRCP training programmes.
