Edward Pringle has over twenty years’ experience in clinical ophthalmology. His pre-clinical training was at the University of Cambridge, followed by clinical studies at the University of Oxford.

Postgraduate training was in London and Oxford including subspecialty fellowships in Vitreoretinal surgery, Medical Retina Disease, Uveitis and Neuro-Ophthalmology.

As an NHS consultant he has been the clinical lead for ophthalmology at Kings College Hospital, London. He has developed medical retina and surgical retinal services. Complex surgery has included working with trauma services and performing complex cataract lens surgery. Working in a multidisciplinary team, Edward Pringle has set up services to diagnose and treat intraocular lymphoma.

Edward Pringle specialises in Cataract surgery (including premium lens implants), lens replacement surgery, retinal surgery including retinal detachment, complications of diabetes, epiretinal membrane and macular hole.

He has experience in both cataract and retinal surgery in private practice and a large tertiary referral NHS teaching centre in London. As a teacher and trainer, he has organised regional academic meetings for consultant and trainee ophthalmologists on topics relating to cataract surgery, lens implants, retinal surgery, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, and macular holes. Edward has lectured at international meetings in the UK and throughout Europe on topics of cataract surgery, intraocular lens exchange, uveitis, lymphoma, retinal detachment and retinal surgery.

Many of his trainees and clinical fellows have gone on to senior consultant posts within the UK and throughout Europe.

In his private practice he sees patients with referrals from optometrists, opticians, general practitioners as well as self-referred patients. His office is happy to discuss the suitability of referrals and recommend other consultants if more appropriate. Edward Pringle sees general eye problems and emergencies, as well as cataract and retinal conditions.
