Personal Profile
Mr Mihaimeed has developed interest in clinical research with specific interest in breast cancer and the ethnic variations within. He has number of peer reviewed publications and is also an accredit GMC Educational and Clinical Supervisor and was member of the London Deanery for the North East Thames higher surgical training committee.
He has volunteered time to help developing services and building capacity in north east African countries and was the founding president of the Sudanese Medical Society in the UK & Ireland.
Mr Faisal Mihaimeed undertook his postgraduate surgical training in south-west of England and West and North central London regions. He trained as a junior Registrar at Royal Cornwall Hospitals and as a Senior Registrar at the Hillingdon Hospital, the Royal Free Hospital, Ashford Hospital (Middlesex) and Central Middlesex Hospital. He carried out his surgical science research at the Royal Postgraduate Medical school -Hammersmith Hospital- and obtained his research master’s degree from the University of London.
In 1999 he was appointed as Consultant General Surgeon with interest in Breast and Endocrine Surgery, at Newham University Hospital NHS trust and as Honorary Consultant Breast Surgeon at St. Bartholomew’ Hospital (Barts & the London NHS Trust).
Mr Mihaimeed held the position of Clinical Director for all Surgical Services at Newham for 11 years and was part of the team that transformed the hospital to its current state. He also held the position of Clinical Director for Cancer Surgery at Barts Health NHS Trust, following the merger of Barts and Royal London NHS with Newham NHS and Whipps Cross NHS Trusts.
He was appointed as Hon. Senior Lecturer at the institute of Health Sciences and Education at Queen Mary’s School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of London. He currently holds the position of Clinical Network Director for Breast Surgery at Barts Health NHS Trust.
