Personal Profile

After graduation Mr For Lam started his surgical training in the Manchester teaching hospitals before moving to St James’s University Hospital in Leeds for a period of clinical research leading to the award of a Doctorate of Medicine.  He remained in Leeds and completed his surgical training in the Liver Unit of St James’s University Hospital before his appointment as Consultant Surgeon in Coventry in 1991 (Walsgrave Hospital now University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust).

Mr Lam has been both Clinical Director and Divisional Medical Director in Surgery at UHCW.  He is now involved in teaching undergraduate medical students and participates in ongoing clinical research.  His professional memberships include AUGIS and BMA.

  • Hepato-Pancteatic-Bilary Surgery Open and laparoscopic gallbladder, liver/bile ducts and pancreas
  • Dermatology – removing benign skin lesions
  • Laparoscopic Surgery – Gallbladder, inguinal hernia and spleen
  • Laparoscopic adrenalectomy
  • Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery – Gastric bands, sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass
  • Endocrine Surgery – Thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and neuro-endocrine tumours
