Personal Profile
He joined the internationally renowned ENT and Head and Neck team at University College London Hospital in 2006 after returning from a prestigious travelling fellowship to visit Australia for a year. His ENT training in the UK was based in the South East, rotating through Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals where he originally did his medical degree.
Professor Vaz has a wide breadth of experience with a number of aspects of super-specialist training. Whilst he like many ENT surgeons practice a wide breadth of General ENT he also have a specialist interest in voice pathology as well as both benign and malignant Head and Neck pathology including Thyroid swellings. He routinely runs urgent referral clinics in the NHS and in the private sector with rapid access to dedicated Head and Neck radiology. His work within a multidisciplinary team and enjoy the interactions with them and see the benefits especially for the cancer patients.
He has always shown an interest in primary care, and have taught GP’s as a Registrar and have been involved with GP referral guidelines. He would be happy to offer educational talks on a variety of ENT topics that suit groups of practices.
He is a visiting Professor at Christchurch Canterbury University and regularly teach on the ENT Masters course. In addition, Professor Vaz assists in the training of Physicians assistants there and will be involved in the newly formed Medical school there.
He looks forward to offering a first class service to patients in the private sector now that he has established his NHS base in London.
In his spare time he enjoys spending time with my family, playing golf and walking the dog.
