Personal Profile

Mr George Araklitis is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (RCOG) recognised subspecialist in Urogynaecology.  He has extensive experience in the treatment of general gynaecological and urogynaecological conditions.  

He trained in various hospitals in London, Kent and Norwich.  He completed his specialist training in Urogynaecology under the mentorship of Professor Linda Cardozo OBE.     

His NHS base is King's College Hospital, a world renowned Urogynaecology unit.  He is a member of the British Society of Urogynaecology (BSUG), European Urogynaecological Association (EUGA), International Urogynaecology Association (IUGA) and Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (RCOG). 

As a subspecialty trained Urogynaecologist at Blackheath Hospital, George specialises in treatment for bladder problems, such as urinary incontinence and recurrent urinary tract infections, as well as caring for women with vaginal prolapse.  He can also help new mothers with pelvic floor issues following childbirth.  He works closely with physiotherapists specialising in women’s health who offer pelvic floor rehabilitation and bladder retraining. 

He is accredited at performing urodynamics - a test to help diagnose bladder conditions. George is one of the few urogynaecologists in his region, who can offer laparoscopic (key hole) surgery for the management of certain prolapse and incontinence conditions.   

He believes in empowering women by discussing all treatment options available, including non-surgical and surgical options. Taking into consideration women’s wishes and needs, using his expertise, George can help provide tailored, individualised care.   

He has published widely in the field of Urogynaecology and presented in several regional, national and international meetings.  He has received best presentation awards at national and European conferences for his research.  

When not working, George enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.   

Mr George Araklitis recognises that bladder and prolapse conditions can have a significant impact on women's quality of life, irrespective of her age and can be difficult to talk about.  He takes care to listen to your concerns in a sensitive and empathetic manner and will do his upmost to provide the best care possible.

Mr Araklitis does not perform scans in his clinic, if you need a scan Mr Araklitis will refer you for a scan.
