Personal Profile

Dr Shabeeh BSc MBBS MRCP PhD CCDS is a medical expert who specialises in the investigation and management of heart disease. He is a Consultant Cardiologist in London and his NHS practice is based at one of London’s premier teaching hospitals, King’s College Hospital and Croydon University Hospital.

Dr Shabeeh treats patients with heart disease including: palpitations, light-headedness, dizziness, ectopics, blackouts (syncope), fainting, arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation, supra-ventricular tachycardia (SVT), postural tachycardia syndrome (PoTS), chest pain, angina, breathlessness, high blood pressure (hypertension), assessment of cardiovascular risk, lipid disorders, valvular heart disease, heart failure, heart muscle disorders.

He has a sub-specialist interest in managing patients with heart rhythm disorders as a fully trained Consultant Cardiac Electrophysiologist. He specialises in simple and complex catheter ablation procedures using the latest technologies for the managemtn of arrhythmia. This includes management of atrial fibrillation, in which he has a personal passion in treating, providing specialist invasive and non-invasive treatments using the latest diagnostic and invasive tools, to ensure optimum care for patients with this condition.

He is the only Cardiac Electrophysiologist for the people of Croydon at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. He chairs an electrophysiology and heart failure multi-disciplinary meeting to ensure patients with heart failure are receiving optimum treatment. He is also experienced in implanting all types of cardiac devices including implantable loop recorders, pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation therapy for heart failure. His other sub-specialist interest is patients with syncope (fainting) and postural tachycardia syndrome (PoTS).

Dr Shabeeh also works closely with Urologists / Andrologists to ensure optimum mens cardiovascular health. He runs one of the only NHS joint Mens Health cardiology / erectile dysfunction clinics with his Urologist colleagues at King's College Hospital, to ensure men with this problem get cardiovascular screening and optimise their cardiovascular health. He has an interest in wellness, and is an advocate for the importance of lifestyle, diet and exercise on cardiovascular health.

Dr Shabeeh also has an interest in using modern technology in healthcare to improve models of care. He has been a Digital Pioneer Fellow with Digital Health London and is also a clinical advisor for various digital health companies.

He qualified from the prestigious Guy’s, King’s College & St. Thomas’ Hospitals School of Medicine (now known as King’s College London School of Medicine) with numerous prizes. He also has a rich academic and research background and was awarded 2 competitive scholarships from the British Heart Foundation and completed a PhD in Cardiovascular Medicine from King’s College London School of Medicine.

He has multiple peer-reviewed publications including his 2017 paper on blood pressure which made the front pages of national newspapers, and has delivered many national and international presentations. He trained in all aspects of cardiology at world renowned cardiac centres in London including The Royal Brompton Hospital, Harefield Hospital and King’s College Hospital, including completing a fellowship in specialist Cardiac Electrophysiology. He has also been recognised by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners as a Certified Cardiac Devices Specialist.

Dr Shabeeh’s time outside of his medical practice is now mainly taken up by his young children.
