Personal profile

Mr Bedford has been a Consultant Plastic Surgeon since 2018. He qualified from the University of Leicester and trained in plastic and reconstructive surgery in the North West, including the North West aesthetic surgery training programme and a National Advanced Training Fellowship in Hand Surgery in Leeds. As a junior trainee he was a National Institute for Health Research academic trainee in surgical education, and as a senior trainee he was awarded a two-year North West Medical Leadership Fellowship.

He has a broad specialist practice encompassing many areas of plastic surgery. In his NHS practice he specialises in the treatment of children and adults with conditions affecting the hands and nerves, including congenital problems and brachial plexus injuries. In his private practice his interests and experience are in body contouring and breast surgery, as well as non-surgical treatments including injectables.

Mr Bedford is driven by a passion to deliver excellent care. He is involved in leadership activities and service development, and is currently the lead consultant for the adult and paediatric Burns & Plastic Surgery services at Manchester Foundation Trust, as well as the incoming Chair of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) Trauma Committee.

Clinical interests

Aesthetic surgery:

  • Body contouring 
  • Aesthetic surgery of the breast 
  • Facial aesthetics including non-surgical treatments

Hand surgery:

  • Dupuytren’s disease including percutaneous needle fasciotomy, and surgery including revision/complex cases
  • Nerve compression including carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome 
  • Peripheral nerve surgery including brachial plexus injuries and nerve tumours

Skin surgery:

  • Benign lumps, bumps, moles and skin tags 
  • Skin cancer including BCC, SCC and melanoma
