Mr Jay Smith is a lower limb reconstruction surgeon specialising in primary & revision joint replacement surgery of both the Hip & Knee.
He qualified from The Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, London in 2001. Specialist Orthopaedic training followed on the North West Thames rotation and included a year at Charing Cross Hospital gaining experience in complex lower limb reconstruction and Pelvic Fracture fixation.
Mr Smith undertook a Hip Fellowship at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals gaining extensive experience in Hip Arthroscopy, Young Adult Hip pathology, Primary & Revision Hip Arthroplasty. He also undertook a Knee Fellowship in the same institution covering Primary & Revision Knee Arthoplasty, Complex Arthroplasty in Sickle Cell and Haemophilia. Mr Smith was appointed as Consultant at Hillingdon & Mount Vernon Hospitals in 2012 and has built up a lower limb surgery practice.
He has a special interest in hip & knee primary and revision joint replacement surgery, as well as the treatment of metal-on-metal hip replacements. He regularly lectures at regional and national Hip and Knee conferences as well as examining for the MSc Orthopaedics at Brighton University.
He has published in International journals and written book chapters in major Surgical & Orthopaedic texts.
