Mr Kesava Mannur is very passionate about Weight loss surgery and started Obesity surgery in Royal London Hospital in 1998 and so has more than 23 years of experience in bariatric surgery. He has set up the bariatric surgery department in Homerton University Hospital London in 2003 and was its director until 2017. He was also an upper GI consultant surgeon in the Royal London Hospital, London. He trained a lot of surgeons in this field both in the UK and abroad. He has a number of publications in peer reviewed journals and he works closely with psychologists, eating disorder specialists, dietitians and metabolic physicians to provide an optimum care for obese patients. He has performed more than 5,500 weight loss surgeries including 3,500 gastric bypasses, 1,100 sleeve gastrectomies and 350 Duodenal Switches DS/SADI and revisional surgeries. He has been interested in bile reflux and has been passionate about the DeMeester Duodenal Switch.
Mr Mannur regularly conducted 7 National Bariatric surgery Training courses and 6 International Bariatric Surgery Symposiums at the Homerton University Hospital, London. He regularly presents his work at International and national Obesity conferences. He has conducted live surgeries of Sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass and Duodenal Switch in national and international conferences, where he has also been invited to give talks on various aspects of bariatric surgery.
Mr Mannur trained at University Hospital of Wales, Lister Hospital, Royal London Hospital and the Middlesex Hospital and is currently a Consultant Surgeon at The London Independent Hospital.
Mr Mannur has performed laparoscopic surgery since 1990 and was closely associated with advanced laparoscopic work at the Royal London Hospital from 1991 - 1993. He regularly performs cholecystectomy for gallstones, fundoplication for reflux and hernia repair. Mr Mannur has also:
- Conducted a number of workshops/conferences in laparoscopic surgery
- Demonstrated live laparoscopic Fundoplication for heartburn/hiatus hernia including in Royal college of surgeons of England
- Trained a number of surgeons in laparoscopic surgery
Mr Mannur is involved in running a free school and low budget hospital in Hyderabad through Sahaj Seva Samsthan and established a school in his village in his father's and mother’s name, which is now being run by the ZP of YSR Kadapa district. He has been a practitioner of Raja yoga for 44y ears and trains people in the yoga.
