Mr Al-Mouazzen completed his higher surgical orthopaedic training in Bristol, England, and was awarded the Inter-Collegiate Specialist Exam in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2018.
After completing his training, Mr Al-Mouazzen further enhanced his skills through three post-CCT knee fellowships. He spent 6 months in Cardiff University Hospitals working under Mr Rhidian Morgan-Jones subspecialising entirely in complex knee and revision knee arthroplasty surgery. He then spent 6 months in the Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt NHS Trust (Oswestry) working under Mr Peter Gallagher, focusing mainly on ligament, cartilage and meniscus surgery, including knee osteotomy and patella stabilising procedures. He subsequently spent another 6 months in Exeter working under Mr Vipul Mandalia and Mr Jonathan Philips, focusing on knee trauma, complex soft tissue knees and knee arthroplasty.
Mr Al-Mouazzen was awarded the ESSKA European travelling Osteotomy Fellowship in 2022. He visited Prof Matthieu Ollivier in Marseille, Dr Kristian Kley in London, and Prof. Philip Schuster in Stuttgart, where he learnt different techniques in knee preservation surgery focusing mainly on knee osteotomy.
Mr Al-Mouazzen is a substantive Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant in NHS Ayrshire & Arran. He has a high-volume elective knee practice involving sporting knee injuries and early / late degenerative knee conditions. He is also involved in the management of knee trauma including fractures and ligament/meniscus injuries.
Mr Al-Mouazzen is a regular supervisor for orthopaedic trainees and really enjoys teaching all grades and specialties. Mr Al-Mouazzen is actively involved in research and audit and has had multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals.
In his spare time, Mr Al-Mouazzen enjoys spending time with his young family as well as cycling.
