Professional Profile

Professor Malcolm Johnston is a Consultant Radiologist with a great wealth of experience. At Goring Hall Hospital he can see patients for imaging and radiology scanning related to Urogynaecology, general radiology, vascular issues and hepatobiliary diseases.

Professor Johnston is a professor of radiology and medical education at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS), and prior to this appointment (July 2022) he was the director of imaging education at BSMS, leading all aspects of radiology and imaging anatomy education in the undergraduate course.

Professor Johntson trained at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine and at University College London. During higher training he undertook a fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the University of British Columbia, Canada. Malcolm is a consultant interventional radiologist at University Hospitals Sussex, where he has worked at both Brighton and Worthing hospitals since 2005.

He specialises in Vascular, Hepatobiliary and Urogynaecology procedures as well as providing general radiology reporting services. He sits on the council of the British Society of Interventional Radiology as the lead for Clinical Excellence.

Malcolm is chair of the undergraduate radiology committee at the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) and sits on the Specialty Training Board, curriculum committee and the academic committee of the RCR.
