Mr Matthew Hall

Mr Matthew Hall graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2001. He completed his basic surgical training in Derriford Hospital Plymouth and undertook his specialist registrar training on the Southwest Peninsula Orthopaedic Training scheme working in centres across Devon and Cornwall. He gained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Tr&Orth) in 2010 and was awarded two Smith & Nephew fellowships in Australia. Firstly a knee fellowship in Melbourne, Australia, with focus on patient specific knee replacement and computer navigation.

The second fellowship, in Perth Australia, specialized in lower limb arthroplasty and reconstructive surgery. On his return to the UK he worked in the internationally renowned Exeter Hip Unit before completing a further hip and knee fellowship at Derriford Hospital Plymouth during which time he became familiar with using computer navigation for knee replacement surgery. He was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Yeovil District Hospital in June 2013 where he runs his NHS practice. His practice includes primary and revision surgery of the hip and knee and keyhole surgery (arthroscopy) of the knee.

He is Trauma lead at Yeovil District Hospital and has a specialist interest in this area. Matthew has a keen interest in research and audit and is principal investigator on two multi-centre randomized controlled trials and has published in peer viewed journals as well as presenting both nationally and internationally.
