Personal Profile

Mr El-Husseiny, who is highly recommended by his patients, has an excellent educational history. He has a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree from Cairo University, a post-graduate diploma in Sports & Exercise Medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, an MD (Res) in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from University College London (UCL), and FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics). He acquired the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Orthopaedics and Trauma from The Royal College of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland.

Mr El-Husseiny went on to receive his higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics from the prestigious North-East Thames- Percivall Pott London Deanery Rotation. He gained further experience at notable UK hospitals, including The Royal London Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital, University College London Hospitals, Kings College Hospital, and The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He undertook a further higher sub-speciality fellowship and completed a year-long program in the world-renowned centre for lower limb arthroplasty and revision replacements at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.

Alongside Mr El-Husseiny's impressive career, training, and studies, he is well-respected for his research. His work has been published in various peer-reviewed journals and presented his findings nationally and internationally. He is a fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (FRCS Tr and Orth) and a member of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (MFSEM).

Mr El-Husseiny is also a noted name in teaching; he is an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) instructor and has been an examiner for various FRCS (Tr and Orth) preparation courses. He also runs a national FRCS (Tr & Orth) program for senior surgeons sitting the fellowship exit exam, to help them pass and become fellows of the Royal College of Surgeons.

He leads on professional development, too, as the current Arthroplasty Lead at Heatherwood and Wexham Hospitals (part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust).

Clinical Interests

Mr El-Husseiny has extensive experience in performing joint replacements, both primary and revision surgeries. This includes:

  • Total Knee Replacements - Primary, Complex and Revision
  • Total Hip Replacements - Primary, Complex and Revision
  • Knee Arthroscopy - Meniscal tear repairs, Partial meniscectomies, Osteochondral defect management
  • ACL Reconstruction
  • Hip Arthroscopy - Femoro-acetabular impingement management, labral tear repairs
  • Fracture Fixation - Simple, Complex and replacement

To date, he has performed over 1000 hip replacements, 1000 knee replacements and carried out over 5,000 arthroscopic procedures on knees and hips. He has also completed over 500 ACL reconstructions. This wealth of experience ensures that he can provide his patients with the best possible care.
