Personal Profile

Mr Bansal is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in hip and knee surgery. He has special interest in treating wide range of hip and knee conditions including arthritis, sports injuries, and trauma.

His NHS base is Princess Royal University Hospital and Orpington Hospital. He has also worked as a Consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital managing patients with complex knee pathologies. Orpington hospital is a purpose built elective orthopaedic center where he performs high volume routine elective hip and knee surgery. His area of interest is day case arthroplasty surgery, pre-habilitation before surgery, improving pain management in lower limb surgery and improving patient outcome by incorporating shared decision making and better patient understanding of the condition. He constantly thrives to improve patient care by participating in ongoing research and has received some of the best patient outcomes and feedback.

Mr Bansal attended and graduated from Sir Sayaji University in India and did post graduate degree in Orthopaedics. He moved to the UK in 2006 and undertook comprehensive surgical training and obtained a research degree before taking up Orthopaedic training rotation in South-East London working in some of the finest London Teaching and District Hospitals.
After completing his training, he undertook internationally acclaimed fellowships at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham in Trauma, and Soft Tissue Knee surgery as well as Lower Limb Arthroplasty/joint preservation fellowship at Royal National Orthopaedic Centre, Stanmore. He gained further experience in Knee surgery working at King’s College Hospital and as Locum Consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital. 

His areas of interest include Partial (Uni) Knee Replacement, Total Knee Replacement (Primary and Revision), Total Hip Replacement (Primary and Revision), Knee Joint Preservation Procedures (PRP/Stem Cells, Osteotomies, Cartilage procedures) and Sports injuries (Meniscal Repair, Ligament Repair/Reconstruction)
He is actively involved in improving the patient experience including implementing enhanced recovery, optimizing pain management and better pre-operative and post-operative rehabilitation. He has published widely in his sub-specialty and keeps himself updated with latest advancements by participating in research and attending conferences. He has excelled not only in surgical treatment of hip and knee disorders but also works closely with allied specialties to maximize non operative management.

Outside work Mr. Bansal plays competitive badminton and is part of the Essex County Badminton Team. He himself have had few sporting injures and can relate to the individual with similar injury at personal level. Mr. Bansal lives in London and likes to spend time with his family travelling and exploring.
