He obtained his medical degree in 2001 and undertook his surgical training, gaining membership to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2008. This was followed by an Intercollegiate Fellowship in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2016. He was awarded the certificate of completion of surgical training in 2017. Mr Hakimi was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust in 2018.
During his orthopaedic surgery training in the North West, Mr Hakimi trained in various techniques in hip and knee surgery at different busy orthopaedic centres, including Wrightington Hospital. He then undertook a fellowship in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty at Chapel Allerton Hospital in Leeds.
Mr Hakimi is a faculty member for several courses teaching hip and knee arthroplasty and orthopaedic fellowship exams. He is also an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Salford.
Outside of medicine, Mr Hakimi is involved in charity work, leading missions to disaster zones providing medical training and performing life-saving surgery.
