Personal Profile

Mudussar Ahmad is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in disorders of the hip and knee. He completed his higher specialty training on the prestigious University College London Hospital and Middlesex Hospital Orthopaedic training program after graduating from University College London Medical School.

Mudussar undertook subspeciality fellowship training in hip and knee replacement surgery and soft tissue knee surgery at Guys & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and the internationally renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore.

Mudussar has been on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council for Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery since 2018 and holds an NHS Consultant appointment at Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, one of the busiest hospitals in London, where he manages patients with complex trauma and periprosthetic fractures, as well as routine elective hip and knee surgery. He is also the Quality and Safety lead for the Orthopaedic directorate.

Mudussar retains a keen interest in medical education and is a clinical supervisor for medical students, junior doctors, and Orthopaedic specialist trainees.

He has been involved with research and published peer reviewed publications and book chapters.

Mudussar is very passionate and ambitious about delivering the best possible bespoke individualised care to his patients.

  • Primary hip and knee replacement – including utilising the latest robotic MAKO technology
  • He has a particular interest in hip & knee replacement in high body mass index (BMI) patients and sickle cell patients
  • Revision hip and knee replacement
  • Arthroscopic (keyhole) knee surgery for sports injuries
  • Knee ligament reconstruction 
  • Upper and lower limb trauma including periprosthetic and periarticular fractures, proximal femoral fractures especially performing hip replacements for hip fracture patients
