Professional Profile

Neitah Prietzel-Meyer is a Consultant Gynaecologist, specialising in gynaecological cancers and minimal access surgery.

Training and Appointment

Miss Prietzel-Meyer studied Medicine at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena in Germany and St Mary's Hospital, London. She graduated in 1997 and spent her foundation years in Surgery and Medicine before entering her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in London. She was part of the South Thames Training region and rotated through South London hospitals like St George's where she spent many years of her training. In 2011, she took up a Consultant position at Frimley Park Hospital. During her training she devoted her time and energy to her areas of special interest, gynaecological cancer diagnosis and treatment as well as minimal access surgery including robotic surgery. She is a trained Colposcopist and led the Colposcopy Unit at Frimley Park Hospital 2011-2017. She is now the Gynaecological Oncology lead for the unit at Frimley Park.

She completed the Advanced Training Specialist Module in Gynaecological Oncology from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London in 2010 and carries a Diploma in Minimally Invasive Surgery obtained in France 2011. Since joining Frimley Park Hospital in 2011 she trained in Robotic Surgery and now regularly performs robotic surgery particularly for patients with endometrial cancer. Her training in all these different surgical techniques enables her to take on complex benign gynaecological cases like advanced endometriosis. Having obtained a postgraduate degree at Kings College, London in Medical Scanning in 2016 she is able to incorporate the ultrasound tool in the diagnosis process.

To date she performed more than 2500 laparoscopies, over 3000 hysteroscopies, over 4000 colposcopies and close to 1000 hysterectomies (including abdominal, vaginal, laparoscopic and robotic hysterectomies) over a 15-year period in both her NHS and private practice.

Teaching

She really enjoys the teaching aspect of the medical profession, particularly passing on surgical skills to colleagues in training within the NHS and being part of the Southampton Medical School rotation for Medical Students. She is an active member of several associations, including the British Society for Colposcopy &Cervical Pathology, the British Gynaecological Cancer Society, The British Fertility Society and the British/European Society of Gynaecological Robotic Surgeons and regularly updates herself by attending their scientific meetings.

She speaks English and German fluently, and also has a basic knowledge of French and Italian.
