Personal profile

Mr Paolo Matteucci is an experienced Consultant Plastic Surgeon who has been in both NHS and private practice for more than 10 years, and on the GMC Specialist Register as a Plastic Surgeon since 2011.

He graduated from Leeds School of Medicine in 1997 and trained in Plastic Surgery across Yorkshire and in London. He completed his training with a prestigious Training Interface Group Fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology. He is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Hull University Teaching Hospitals Trust, where he specialises in head and neck reconstruction, facial palsy and the treatment of complex skin cancer. Mr Matteucci appreciates the enormous impact that well-performed and appropriate cosmetic surgery can have on a patient’s self-esteem and quality of life. He understands the importance of balance and harmony in cosmetic surgery and the tailoring of each patients’ treatment to achieve optimal results. He feels that excellent results can only be achieved by a thorough understanding of the concerns and aspirations of each patient and will provide patients with an honest appraisal of their suitability for particular procedures. He will explain the procedures carefully and in detail as a comprehensive understanding of the potential risks and benefits of their treatment is essential. He is committed to provide the highest standard of care in the safest environments. He has helped hundreds of patients with aesthetic procedures to achieve their goals.

He is registered with and has excellent patient feedback on the Private Hospitals Information Network and I Want Great Care.

In addition to his clinical work, Mr Matteucci has interests in research, training and education. He has published more than 50 scientific articles, written 3 book chapters in surgical textbooks and has authored national guidelines on the management of skin cancer. He supervises plastic surgical and academic trainees and works closely with the wound healing scientists at Hull York Medical School. He continues to be closely involved with the Training Interface Group (TIG) Head and Neck fellowships and is currently the chair of the Interface Training Oversight Group, which oversees all of the national TIG fellowships. He is a council member of the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), is the chair of the BAPRAS Head and Neck Special Interest and Advisory Group and sits on the BAPRAS Research Committee.
