Dr Marden strongly believes in the provision of safe, patient friendly care and during his training undertook a 14 month endoscopy fellowship to obtain a high level of expertise in endoscopic procedures. He regularly provides postgraduate training to other doctors on the use of capsule endoscopy and enteroscopy.
He is one of a handful of clinicians to provide spiral enteroscopy in the UK and organises an annual training course in this procedure to teach other consultants the technique. He consults and scopes solely at Bath Clinic; ensuring all patients receive the best care possible.
Further areas of interest are Diagnosis and management of dyspepsia(heartburn), oesophageal reflux, dysphagia(swallowing difficulties), gastric and duodenal ulcers, inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease and microscopic colitis) hepatic (liver) disease , biliary(gallbladder/bile duct) disease, pancreatic disease, coeliac disease, gastrointestinal malabsorption and weight loss, anaemia and gastrointestinal bleeding, diarrhoea, change in bowel habit, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation and rectal bleeding.
Dr Marden is active in research and is currently participating in a study investigating possible causes of weight loss in patients with Huntingdon’s disease. Recent presentations at international meetings include studies on the correlation of capsule endoscopy findings with spiral enteroscopy.
