Professional Profile

Rachael qualified from Sheffield University in 1995 and completed her postgraduate training in Sheffield and local regional hospitals. She obtained an MD in molecular and genetic medicine in 2003 and has been a Consultant in adult Rheumatology and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield since 2007. In addition to managing general rheumatology conditions her special interest is in connective tissue diseases including vasculitis. With colleagues she runs a tertiary referral service for connective tissue diseases at the EULAR centre of excellence in Sheffield.

A significant part of her time is spent running combined clinics across several allied specialities including renal, neurology, respiratory and dermatology, providing coordinated care for patients. She is committed to high quality patient care, participating in regular audit, quality improvement and health governance.

Teaching and training

Rachael takes an active role in training and educating, for the last 12 years she has been the rheumatology lead for educational and clinical supervision for junior doctors in training providing supervision, training and mentoring.

Research

Rachael is involved in numerous research projects alongside her clinical work and completed an MD in 2003.
