Personal Profile

Since 1998 Dr Rachel Jenkins has been Consultant Dermatologist at West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust building up the service substantially both on the main site and through additional clinics at Haverhill and Sudbury and Thetford.

She is the Lead Dermatology Consultant at WSH and also Lead for the phototherapy service and co-lead for Patch tests. Additionally Dr Jenkins Leads for Teaching and a University of Cambridge Senior Clinical Tutor.

She graduated from the University College and Middlesex Hospital Medical School, University of London in 1986 having also completed a B.Sc. in Immunology and Genetics. 

Her Dermatology training (as Senior House Officer, Registrar and Senior Registrar) was at St John’s Institute of Dermatology, St Thomas’ Hospital in London.

From 1994-1996 I was Dowling Fellow at the University of California, San Diego working on melanoma vaccines.

In 1997 she was awarded M.D. based on my thesis: ‘Immunogenetics of Pemphigoid Gestationis’ (PG).  PG is a rare blistering rash of pregnancy on which she published several papers and was awarded first prize by the American Society of Dermatopathology, San Francisco.

  • I see patients with the whole range of skin conditions including those with acne, eczema, psoriasis, viral warts, pregnancy rashes, pigmented lesions including benign skin lesions and skin cancer. 
  • I have extensive experience in surgical procedures in Dermatology
