He is a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon with over 22 years surgical experience at the consultant level. He obtained his primary MBBS degree from the University of Mumbai, and then trained in Orthopaedics leading to the M.S.(Orth). He graduated with an FRCS in 1983 and undertook Orthopaedic training in the UK on the Charing Cross/Hammersmith Hospitals rotation (covering Hillingdon, Mt Vernon, Ealing, Central Middlesex and Charing Cross Hospitals). He obtained the FRCS (Orth) in 1998 and in 1999 he did a year’s Hand & Wrist Fellowship at the renowned St Andrew’s Centre, Broomfield and the Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. In 2000 he was appointed as a substantive consultant at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital. Prior to coming to the UK, Mr Pandit did a Hip & Knee joint replacement clinical Fellowship at the famous St Joseph’s Hospital in London, Ontario.
Mr Pandit has extensive experience in Orthopaedics and performs over 200 operations a year, including arthroscopic (key-hole) surgery, joint replacements of the shoulder and elbow. He also deals with sports injuries of the shoulder and elbow. He undertakes complex Shoulder and Elbow surgery, including revision joint replacements, rotator cuff tears and arthritis, and Reverse Shoulder replacement for cuff arthropathy. He performs Arthroscopic repair of the TFCC in the wrist and also wrist joint replacements. He undertakes Dupuytren’s releases in the hand and joint replacements in the thumb and finger joints. He performs arthroscopic elbow surgery for tennis elbow and arthritis.
Mr Pandit has held senior positions at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital. He was Clinical Director in Orthopaedics. He was an educational trainer and supervisor of junior doctors.
Mr Pandit keeps abreast with recent advances in the field of Orthopaedic surgery and attends international meetings such as the British Shoulder and Elbow Society meeting, the American Academy of Orthopaedic surgeons and others in Europe like SICOT and SECC.
