Dr Richard Barraclough is a local respiratory physician with many years experience of dealing with a wide-range of acute and chronic respiratory conditions, including asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer and unexplained chronic cough.
Richard is the lead physician for COPD at the Wythenshawe hospital where he runs the specialist COPD service. In addition, he is the lead physician for acute respiratory medicine and has extensive experience assessing and treating all presentations of respiratory illness.
His main sub-specialist interest is the diagnosis and management of occupational lung diseases, particularly occupational asthma and asbestos related lung disease. He regularly provides teaching to other healthcare workers and has published a number of peer reviewed articles on this area. Richard has also helped to write the national standards of care for occupational asthma.
