Personal Profile

Robert Duthie is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in both lower limb arthroplasty and hand surgery. This gives him a wide exposure to all aspects of elective orthopaedic practice particularly primary hip and knee replacements, complex revision hip reconstruction and general hand conditions. Mr Duthie now works exclusively for Albyn Hospital, having previously worked for Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen for 17 years.

Mr Duthie regularly receives tertiary referrals from other surgeons out-with Aberdeen for the management of complex hip problems. He undertook specialist Fellowship training in lower limb reconstructive arthroplasty surgery in Adelaide, South Australia during 2000/01. He returned to Aberdeen as a Consultant in 2001.

During his time in Adelaide he had the opportunity to work in a specialist unit treating large numbers of primary and complex hip and knee problems. In conjunction with his lower limb interest, he also sees many common hand conditions e.g. Dupuytren’s contracture, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Trigger finger and degenerative arthritis of the thumb.
