Personal Profile

Personal Profile

Mr Rohit Jolly is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and over the past 12 years has developed a passion and expertise in the comprehensive medical and surgical management of adults and children with eye complaints in particular cataracts, squints and neuro ophthalmology.

Mr Jolly graduated from University College London and as well as a medical degree received a First with honours in Neurosciences. His Ophthalmic training was in the highly competitive North Thames Deanery where he spent a significant amount of time at the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a member of the British and Irish Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Association and British Emergency Eyecare Society.

Mr Jolly performs small incision cataract surgery for routine and complex cases, offering patients the option of premium intraocular lenses to help them adapt to their relevant lifestyles, aiming to achieve spectacle independence. In his paediatric practice he undertakes squint surgery for children of all ages, performs procedures to help relieve watery eyes in the very young and also lid and brow lesion removal.

As well as a surgical approach to care he is a firm believer in medical management and uses botulinum toxin injections to help manage squints in children and adults as well as the treatment of twitching eyelids (myokymia and blepharospasm) and the face (hemifacial spasm).

In line best practice, Mr Jolly performs fornix based small incision squint surgery as well as the option of surgery with adjustable sutures so as to provide more predictable post operative results. In his adult practice he also performs lid and brow lesion removal, chalazion incision and drainage and YAG capsulotomy for posterior capsular opacification.
Mr Jolly is Clinical Service Lead for Ophthalmology at the Royal Free hospital in Hampstead and is responsible for providing and coordinating acute and elective care across the North Central London network to ensure that patients are treated safely, in a timely manner and colleagues are supported.

Teaching is a real passion of Mr Jolly and he is an active trainer of junior surgeons, medical students and nurses, continuously receiving positive feedback from colleagues about the impact he has had on their development as clinicians. He is frequently involved in education within primary care as well as within the hospital and is a firm believer that knowledge is power. This has been furthered by working with the eye charity Orbis in helping spread information to the public about eye health and the impact of sight loss in developing countries.

In his free time Mr Jolly enjoys time with his children and wife and believes health is wealth, thus being an avid swimmer, cyclist and tries to keep up with his children in many sports. This belief of staying healthy has led him to pursue research into the nutritional benefits of many food sources and in particular for healthy eyes and vision.

Mr Jolly’s colleagues and patients describe him as a friendly, approachable, safe and empathetic individual who takes real passion in all he does. His many experiences have shaped him into a clinician that listens to his patients, understands each person has different needs, and tailors care that is specific to that individual.

Mr Jolly is here to look after your eyes and wellbeing.
