Personal profile

Mr Saxena graduated from the University of Delhi, India in 1991. He subsequently trained as an Ophthalmologist and was awarded the Master of Surgery (Ophthalmology) by the University of Delhi in 1994. He has been working as an Ophthalmologist in the United Kingdom since 2003.

He trained at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast and at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. He completed the surgical training programme in Ophthalmology from the Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham. He was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London in 2015. He was subsequently added to the Specialist Register maintained by the General Medical Council, London.

Mr Saxena has extensive experience in assessing, evaluating and managing eye conditions. He regularly performs cataract operations at The Lincoln Hospital. His special sub-specialty interest is in managing Glaucoma. He is proficient in medical and surgical Glaucoma management.

In his NHS practice, Mr Saxena is employed as a Substantive Ophthalmology Consultant at the Sherwood Forrest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He works at the Kings Mill Hospital, Sutton-in-Ashfield and at Newark Hospital. He has been appointed the College Tutor in his NHS role by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London. This entails being responsible for the teaching and training of Ophthalmology trainees placed at the Kings Mill Hospital from the University of Nottingham. He is closely involved in the training of medical students and Ophthalmology trainees.
