Personal Profile

Mr Sreenadh Gella is an experienced Consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder surgeries. He provides a spectrum of treatments for upper limb conditions ranging from injections, keyhole surgery (arthroscopy) and open surgeries. He specialises in treating conditions like Carpal Tunnel syndrome, Dupuytrens disease, trigger finger, arthritis (shoulder/ elbow/ wrist/ hand), shoulder stiffness, shoulder instability, rotator cuff tears, elbow pain (tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow), nerve compressions and tendon problems. Mr Gella has a broad trauma management portfolio including upper limb sports injuries. He performs most of his upper limb surgeries as day case procedures (patients can go home on the same day).

Mr Gella did his medical schooling (MBBS) and post-graduation in Orthopaedics (MS(Orth)) at the University of Health Sciences in India. After moving to the UK, he completed his Basic Surgical Training from Yorkshire deanery. He did his FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) and developed an interest in Hand and Upper limb surgery. He went on to do his Sports and upper limb reconstruction fellowship at Panam Clinic, University of Manitoba, Canada.

Mr Gella practices in NHS at Sandwell General Hospital, City Hospital and in future at the upcoming Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) when it opens.

Mr Gella has a significant interest in teaching and training. He lectures Medical students from Aston University and the University of Birmingham. Previously, he has lectured to medical students at the University of Health Sciences in India and the University of Manitoba in Canada. Mr Gella participates in the Regional Specialist Training Programme for Orthopaedics. He is an educational and clinical supervisor for the foundation trainees in Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust.

Mr Gella has published in various medical journals and instruction course lectures. He is a keen researcher and participated in various national research projects.

Mr Gella likes to contribute to the systems to improve patient care and safety.  As Venous Thrombo Embolism (VTE) lead for Orthopaedics in SWBH NHS Trust, he developed safety guidelines for preventing VTE in musculoskeletal conditions and as the Fracture clinic lead, he introduced virtual fracture clinic services in SWBH NHS Trust.

Mr Gella believes in a team approach and holistic care. He is passionate about empowering his patients in the decision-making for their treatment. He strives to provide the best possible care for his patients and consistently receives good feedback from patients and colleagues.

  • Arthroscopic shoulder surgery for Impingement, Rotator cuff tears, Stabilization, AC joint and Biceps tendon problems
  • Shoulder Replacement surgery including resurfacing, hemi, total or reverse
  • Treatment for Tennis/golfers elbow, elbow arthroscopy, stiffness, arthritis, distal biceps rupture
  • Treatment of clavicle, shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist, scaphoid and hand fractures
  • Management of wrist problems including Keinbocks, wrist arthroscopy, scapho lunate and TFCC ligaments injuries, mal unions, partial or total wrist fusion
  • Treatment for Carpal and cubital tunnel nerve compression, Dupuytren’s, trigger finger, arthritis of hand
  • Ultrasound Guided injections
