Personal profile
Dr Bianchi was appointed as a Consultant in 2007, following training in the North East of England and a research sabbatical in Sheffield (where he attained his PhD). He is based at the Northern General and Thornbury Hospital.
His expertise is in general respiratory medicine (COPD, asthma, breathlessness, cough) with a special focus on sleep disordered breathing (e.g. sleep apnoea, respiratory failure), pulmonary fibrosis (scarring) and bronchiectasis (chronic lung infection).
He has a broad clinical and research portfolio and is active in several educational and managerial roles. He has an Honorary Senior Lectureship at the University of Sheffield, where he is involved in the education of trainee doctors and medical students. The service offered through Thornbury Hospital is predominantly an outpatient service although inpatient management is also possible.
