Personal Profile

I qualified in medicine at St Andrews University in 1968. I spent one year in 1970 as an Anatomy Demonstrator back in St Andrews where I gained my primary surgical fellowship. For a number of reasons I did not pursue a career in surgery, but after a year's General Practice training in Cornwall I came to Basingstoke where I was a partner in General Practice, but also doing hospital sessions in the General Surgery department. Over the years my NHS hospital practice and my private practice has increased to the extent that in 1994 I left General Practice

I still work in the Health Service at the North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke where I run what is now principally a leg ulcer clinic seeing patients from a very wide area with leg ulcer issues. My particular interest is the non-surgical treatment of varicose veins and accurate diagnosis of leg ulcer issues.

I was involved in the very early days of the use of ultrasound guided foam and in particular was in charge a large European study carried out by Provensis who were part of BTG with whom I worked for several years.

I am Chairman of the British Association of Sclerotherapy who are a National organisation of people involved in injection treatments for venous disease. My Health Service clinic is at the North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke and my private practice is at the Hampshire Clinic on the outskirts of Basingstoke and on Tuesdays I do a clinic in Goring seeing patients from the Oxfordshire areas.
