Personal Profile

Dr Thomas Simpson trained at Cambridge University before completing his Medical Degree at Guy’s, King’s & St Thomas’ Medical school, graduating with distinction in 2006.

Since then he has gone on to develop a strong interest in respiratory medicine, with publications covering many aspects of Respiratory Disease as well as significant clinical time spent working at the Tertiary Respiratory centres at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals and King’s College Hospital.

He has developed particular special interests in Interstitial Lung Disease & Sarcoidosis, with ongoing significant clinical and research interests in these areas.

He has received awards throughout his career for his innovative approach to medicine and medical education in particular, and is particularly well regarded for his ability to communicate complex medical diagnoses and issues into understandable, jargon-free speech for his patients and their relatives or carers.

He currently works at Lewisham Hospital as an NHS consultant.

Clinical Interests

Dr Simpson currently works in the Respiratory Department at Lewisham Hospital where he is the clinical lead for both Interstitial Lung disease and Sarcoidosis, and contributes significantly to the Cystic Fibrosis and Lung Cancer teams, as well as reviewing inpatients and outpatients for general respiratory issues. He is also the lead bronchoscopist at Lewisham Hospital.
