Mr Vail Karuppiah is a Consultant Foot and Ankle Surgeon who graduated from the top ranked university in India - JIPMER, Pondicherry. He started his surgical career in Aberdeen, Scotland and completed Membership exams. He was appointed as a clinical tutor at the University of Aberdeen and completed research towards a higher degree.
He completed his National Orthopaedic Training Programme in East Midlands working at various hospitals including the Queen Medical Centre, Derby Hospitals and Kingsmill Hospital, Mansfield. He was trained by very well-recognised, established surgeons in the region developing further interest in foot and ankle.
Among other fellowships, he has completed an accredited International Specialist training in Foot and Ankle Fellowship from Australia in 2018. During this time, he developed interest in Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) in Foot and Ankle. He has acquired huge exposure with well recognised international surgeons in this subspecialty and currently has a well-established practice in Nottingham and other areas including Sheffield and Leicester.
Mr Karuppiah is a full-time consultant at the Nottingham University Hospital has a regular clinic and operating sessions. He is a keen educator and continues to teach both junior trainees and registrars. So far, he has completed various levels of publication and presentation both national and international level.
