Circle-Rehabilitation-Birmingham-Birmingham-West-Midlands
At Circle Health Group, we provide tailored rehabilitation services to help you recover from a wide range of problems, including neurological disorders, injury, and long COVID.

If you have been injured or diagnosed with an illness that affects your ability to function, you might need extra support from specialists to get better.

Rehabilitation is a step-by-step programme that helps you recover from of a broad range of health conditions and injuries, including chronic pain, immobility, and neurological disorders, such as Parkinson's disease. It helps you regain strength and mobility, relearn important life skills, and adopt methods to function (and thrive) living with your condition.

Each person's recovery journey following injury or illness is different, which is why rehabilitation is always a tailored form of treatment built around your needs. At Circle Health Group, you will work with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including a consultant, nurse, occupational therapist, and physiotherapist, to follow a bespoke, rehabilitative treatment plan. We focus on what you want to gain from your recovery while easing your symptoms, increasing your mobility, and significantly improving your quality of life.

Through cutting-edge technology and equipment combined with superb standards of care across a wide range of healthcare teams, we ensure you recover in the fastest and most effective way possible.

There are many reasons why you might need rehabilitative treatment to get better. These include:

Parkinson's disease

Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects your nervous system. It causes slow movement, an involuntary tremor, and problems with speech and memory. Living with Parkinson's can be immensely difficult because it affects your ability to perform everyday tasks with ease and control. Rehabilitation is often life-changing, focusing on improving your balance, strength, and movement through specialist physiotherapy. It also helps you build solutions and strategies for memory problems, speech difficulties, and the impact of Parkinson's on your emotional wellbeing.

A stroke

A stroke happens when the blood supply to part of your brain is cut off. It is a life-threatening condition that can result in slurred speech and paralysis on one side of your body. After having a stroke, many people are left with weakness and paralysis on one side of their body, as well as persistent problems with fatigue, balance, and co-ordination. Rehabilitation after a stroke can help you effectively manage the physical and psychological impact of your condition through dedicated physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and often cognitive behavioural therapy.

Post-surgery recovery

Rehabilitation is often effective after joint replacement surgery, such as hip replacement or knee replacement surgery to remove and replace damaged parts of your joint with a prosthesis. After surgery, your mobility and strength will be limited as you adapt to life with a new joint(s). Rehabilitation with a physiotherapist to strengthen your muscles and improve your mobility is a trusted way to recover faster from surgery, helping you get back to doing the things you love, much sooner. At Circle Health Group, we offer rehabilitation services to help people recover from surgery.

Long COVID

Long COVID affects each person differently. Many people experience difficulties breathing and walking long distances after having tested positive for the virus. Other symptoms of long COVID include fatigue, heart palpitations, dizziness, and problems with concentration and memory. Our rehabilitation services for long COVID focus on tailored physiotherapy to improve your core strength, as well as the use of specialist equipment to maximise your breathing capacity. You will work with a team of nurses, physiotherapists, and even dietitians to recover from the illness.

These are just some of the conditions that can be treated with rehabilitation. Other conditions (all of which we treat at Circle Health Group) include:

At Circle Health Group, we use the latest equipment and technologies to support your rehabilitation journey. Our teams of consultants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and more, are specially trained in how to operate these technologies to enhance your care and achieve long-lasting results. Some of the technologies we use include:

AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill™

This is a rehabilitation treadmill used to reduce stress on damaged joints in your lower body. With an innovative system that captures real-time data to monitor your progress and maximise your range of movement, it helps you rehabilitate safely with less pain and the reduced risk of re-injury.

Gait analysis

Gait analysis uses Footscan® technology to analyse how efficiently your body moves when walking and running. The system, which is made up of advanced 3D static scanners, printers, and analysis software, has over 4,000 high-speed sensors that capture and assess your movement, providing information about even the smallest abnormalities in your movement, helping your consultant and physiotherapist find the right treatment for you.

Electrotherapy

Electrotherapy is a non-invasive technique that uses electrical energy to stimulate your nerves and muscles, helping reduce inflammation, decrease pain, and improve your mobility. The treatment uses various forms of specialist equipment during physiotherapy sessions, including a TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) machine, which is a small, battery-operated device that uses electrodes (sticky pads) that attach to your skin, sending signals to your spinal cord and brain to relieve pain and relax your muscles.

The Biodex Balance System

The Biodex Balance System is a tool for balance testing and training exercises. It measures the control and strength of isolated muscle groups, building an exercise plan to strengthen your muscles, improve your range of motion, and control your balance. Training includes weight shifting, as well as statistic and dynamic balancing exercises. The tool is often used to treat people with neurological conditions, because it helps restore balance and functionality so effectively.

The Hydro Physio

This is a walk-in unit with an integrated treadmill that can be filled with water up to your waist or shoulders. It allows you to perform tailored physiotherapy exercises to improve your strength and mobility in a safe and controlled way. The buoyancy of the water reduces the load on painful joints and cushions weak muscles and limbs, while the warm temperature of the water helps relax your muscles and reduce pain.
