This surgeon completed orthopaedic training in the prestigious Cambridge rotation, spending his final year at Addenbrookes Hospital (Cambridge) upper limb unit, and subsequently completed 2 post-CCT training fellowships at the world renowned Kings College Hospital London Major Trauma Centre further specialising in both hand & wrist and shoulder & elbow surgery.
Mr Al-Tawil strives for excellence throughout his career. His undergraduate medical training was at St Georges University of London, achieving a distinction and multiple prizes for academic excellence. Mr Al-Tawil completed his foundation and core training years in and around London. He is a avid trainer with clinical and educational supervision training roles. Mr Al-Tawil is a reviewer for several orthopaedic journals and has multiple publications. He has a formal teaching qualification; PGCert in healthcare and biomedical education, and hold a clinical lecturer role at Anglia Ruskin Medical School.
Mr Al-Tawil is a surgical consultant contact for hand therapy (runs a weekly meeting for complex cases), co-runs the upper limb weekly MDT, and co-organises the monthly regional complex hand clinic (spanning 5 hospitals in London and Essex). He is well organised and represent the department on the trauma governance meetings and recruitment committees. Mr Al-Tawil has set up guidelines and protocols to simplify, standardise, and improve the standard of care.
