Mr Sudhindra Rao is a Consultant General and Upper Gastro-intestinal Surgeon at The Winterbourne Hospital since 2006. He is an experienced general surgeon, with special interests in Upper gastro-intestinal and laparoscopic surgery. He completed his higher surgical training in the Wessex Deanery in the UK, in addition to obtaining surgical training at the Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute in India, to achieve excellence in surgical practice based on good knowledge, highly developed technical skills, dedication and advanced communication to deliver a high standard of care.

 

Mr Rao’s special interests include surgery for gallstones, anti-reflux surgery for acid-reflux, gastroscopy, laparoscopic and open repairs of a wide range of hernias. Mr Rao holds an outpatient clinic at The Winterbourne Hospital for patients suffering from gallstones, acid reflux and hiatus hernia, groin lumps, swollen lymph nodes and all types of hernias, such as inguinal, femoral, umbilical, ventral, epigastric and incisional hernias. He is a highly skilled laparoscopic (key-hole) surgeon in Dorset.

 

Mr Sudhindra Rao was the Clinical Director for Surgery and Urology at the Dorset County Hospital and also served as the Surgical Tutor of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, for specialist surgical trainees in the Wessex Deanery. He is actively involved in training medical students and surgical trainees. He is dedicated to research and has published many papers in various journals and e-textbooks.
