Personal Profile

Mr Savaridas is a Consultant Hand and Upper Limb Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon at Kings Park Hospital in Stirling. He is also the Clinical Director for Research and Development at NHS Forth Valley.

Mr Savaridas completed his undergraduate medical qualification at the University of Edinburgh in 2004, completing orthopaedic training in Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Northeast of England. He was awarded the Northeast Kreibich Research Prize in 2011. Mr Savaridas has also completed research on aspects of fracture healing and bone fixation. This led to him obtaining a Doctor of Medicine (MD) higher degree from The University of Edinburgh in 2011.

Following completion of orthopaedic surgical training in the UK, Mr Savaridas was awarded a British Orthopaedic Association grant to travel to Perth, Australia, to complete a Hand, Upper Limb and Trauma Fellowship in 2016. Upon return from Australia, Mr Savaridas took up his current substantive Consultant role at NHS Forth Valley. He has been the Orthopaedic Training Lead at NHS Forth Valley.

Mr Savaridas is currently Clinical Director for Research & Development at NHS Forth Valley. This is a role that he pioneered locally. He is the local Principal Investigator for several multi-centre national clinical trials. His current research interest are focused on improving accuracy of implant positioning in shoulder replacement, reducing wound complications following hip fracture surgery and peripheral nerve blocks for the treatment of painful shoulder conditions.

Mr Savaridas' elective clinical practice covers all aspects of shoulder, elbow and hand degenerative diseases, as well as soft tissue and peripheral nerve disorders. His particular area of expertise within the trauma setting is for complex injuries of the upper extremities. His focus is to offer personalised care with appropriate interventions at the right time. This is to maintain patients' function whilst limiting recovery time to allow them to continue their physical pursuits and quality of life.

Mr Savaridas is a keen hockey player and junior coach at Stirling Wanderers Hockey Club. In addition, he is a Boys Brigade Officer at his local Brigade.
